Located in North Texas is a small town known as Whitewright. It is located about 60 miles north of Dallas and 20 miles south of the Red River which separates Texas and Oklahoma. Whitewright is positioned and Fannin and Grayson Counties and had a population of about 1,700 people in 2016 according to the United States Census Bureau.

The history of Whitewright dates back to the late 1870s when William Whitewright purchased a tract of land. Railway tracks of the Missouri, Kansas, and Texas Railway extended through the land, creating the perfect place to establish a town. Eventually, the land was surveyed as a townsite and William Whitewright had lots of his land sold. Soon after, settlers and businesses quickly arrived in the area.

Individuals who visit modern-day Whitewright will discover a charmingly small town. According to the town’s website, the mission and vision of the City of Whitewright “is committed to the safety, health, and quality of life, which meets the needs for its citizens, businesses, and visitors.” Whitewright is home to elementary, middle, and high schools. Also located in the town are many restaurants. Grand Street is the main throughway through Whitewright. Downtown Whitewright is located on Grand Street as well as many facilities and town buildings.
