Erwin Park

Erwin Park is a beautiful aquatic centre located off Virginia Parkway in McKinney, built to represent Texas's fine lakes. There are several lakes that the City of McKinney has created just for this park. The main lake has an interactive fountain with jets from its bottom and four smaller ponds spread throughout the park. They also have an amphitheatre, walking trails with historical markers attached at scenic viewing areas of the lake, and picnic tables for family outings.
The Erwin Park lake offers a unique experience to Texas lakes. Each year, a spooktacular event gives kids ages 12 and under free admission to the park on a designated day in October.

In particular, I love how they have incorporated historical markers into the trails that allow you to take a scenic walk around the lake. During these walks, you get a great view of the lake and can learn more about McKinney's history simultaneously!
